USA/South Carolina Within the United States of America there are exactly 50 of the top 100 golf courses in the world (golf.com 2009) not surprising when you consider that there are over 17,000 golf courses in the United States of America. Of those 50, 39 are private golf courses and therefore can’t be used in a tour. The remaining 11 are spread all over the country. There are 2 in each of following states California, Oregon and South Carolina. Each of following states has 1 and they are Florida, New York, Washington, Wisconsin and North Carolina. Because there are approximately 3000 miles between East coast and West Coast it is not practical to combine them in same week for a golf tour. Therefore we will have various tours to permit you to play the top courses. Various groups and publications such as golf.com and Golf Digest publish a list of the top 100 USA golf courses you can play. To be in top 100 of a group of 17,000 is quite an honour and insures a quality of courses that is unequalled by any other tour. The South Carolina tour will have you playing the following Top 100 Golf Courses. The first one will be Harbour Town on Hilton Head which is rated #73 in the World Top 100 Golf Courses. From there you go to Kiawah Island to play the Jack Nicklaus course that is rated # 48 in the USA Top 100 courses you can play. Then you will be playing the top rated course on this tour the Kiawah Island Ocean Course rated #43 in the World’s Top 100 Golf Courses. Following these 2 games on Kiawah Island you will be going to Myrtle Beach “Golf Town USA” as it is commonly called to play the remaining 3 courses on this tour. Golf Digest recently named 10 South Carolina golf courses to the top 100 public golf courses of the nation, you will play the top 2 of these, the Heritage Club golf course rated # 33 and the Dunes Golf & Beach Club rated # 41. To end your week what better than to play where the pros play the TPC Myrtle Beach. TPC Myrtle Beach is one of only 17 golf courses in North America that have been awarded the prestigious 5***** and the only one in South Carolina. Weather In regards to the weather it is interesting to note that as an example the November weather in South Carolina averages 69F which is 5 degrees warmer than the 4 warmest months in Scotland (June-September). The average temperature in Myrtle Beach in November is 69F which is more than 10 degrees warmer than London, Glasgow or Dublin. November is the month with the lowest precipitations in the year.
